How to Start My Own Webcam Website & Get Paid

Technology is allowing subscribers to access the Internet at a quicker speed than dial-up, which is causing more people to use webcams and camcorders to broadcast themselves on the Internet. Starting a webcam website allows you to either connect individuals with similar interests to broadcast themselves or to create a site similar to YouTube where they can record content using their webcam for all the world to see. Advertising and/or charging a membership fee will be your options for getting paid.

1.Choose a domain name for your webcam business. A domain name is the website address that your subscribers will type in their browser to reach your website.  domain registrars such as Godaddy, can charge $1 and up per year to register your domain name. Choose a name for your website that will be catchy, memorable and easy to spell.

2.Choose a Web host for your website. A Web host is responsible for maintaining servers that can handle your traffic and also handle the content of your webcam website. Expect to pay a higher amount for your Web host per month as digital media like webcams, music and video take up more space than a website without media content. Web hosts are competitive, charging as little as $4 to more than $100 a month for their services. Choose a host who offers the most memory and traffic allotment for the lowest price

3.Write the content for your website using word-processing software. Type out the description of your website, the services offered and also frequently asked questions or instructions for your website. Use the spell check feature on your word-processing software to check for grammatical and spelling errors.

5.Install a webcam script for your website. A webcam script is a code that can be embedded in your website design that allows individuals to upload their webcam content or connect to other webcams. This software can either be found online or at your local software store. Your Web designer should be able to integrate webcam script into the website design.

6.Hire a Web designer to create your website. Use sites like Getafreelancer.com or Guru.com to hire web designers from around the world based on your budget. Choose website templates (free or paid) if you choose not to hire a freelance designer. Website templates are designed for you and you can upload the content and images to this template. You may be limited to the creation and flexibility of your webcam site if you choose a website template.

7.Open an account with PayPal or Google Checkout in order to accept payments from your clients. Visit your local bank to open a merchant account so you can accept credit cards as well. You can either charge your subscribers a membership fee to use their webam to chat with other people like Icuii.com or you can charge advertisers a fee to advertise on your website similar to how YouTube operates and generates revenue. Locate advertisers by contacting their advertising department using YellowPages.com, Better Business Bureau, or visiting them directly in your local area.
